In my Christian novel Silently Blessed, one of the main characters is at a traffic light. Smoke fills the inside of the car next to her. Mom and Dad enjoy their morning ‘cig in the front seat.’  Inhaling the smoke, two kids sit helplessly in the back. As she looks at the kids, their little heads drop. She prays silently, and when the traffic light turns green, she looks at the kids. They smile as if they knew she just prayed for them. The Dad quickly looks into the rearview mirror at the kids. He then looks at his wife. Inconspicuously, Mom and Dad put out their cigarettes. Down the road, the main character has tears of joy rolling down her face because she listened to the Holy Spirit by praying for the entire family. Because the main character listened to the Holy Spirit, the family’s life improved.

Food for Thought: The main character prayed for a situation where anyone else may have looked at the problem and said, “That is none of my business. God bless them.”  But Christians should pray immediately, especially when the Holy Spirit speaks. Will you be the reason a family is Silently Blessed?
